In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine cult.

The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps steed

This update also introduces the game's latest complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Crossovers

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
