Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
