Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
