The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
